The Problem:
Festival highlight reels can show that a lot happened without helping someone understand the experience.
- Different sessions, events and experiences are compressed into the same fast montage
- Each space appears briefly, then disappears before its meaning can land
- Viewers can see the activity, but not what it would feel like to take part
- The festival looks interesting, but the experience still feels uncertain
Pranafest is a 3 day immersive wellness/music festival focused on community connection, wellness practices and musical celebration.
It facilitates many different experiences including musical artists, breathwork, yoga, movement, and workshops.
People are not only deciding whether the event looks good. They are deciding whether they would feel safe, included, energised, or connected inside it.
The challenge was to show what the specific experiences within Pranafest ‘feel’ like – and what someone should expect from it – within a 30 second social media reel.

The Shift:
Instead of showing quick fragments from across the festival, the focus shifted to spending 30 seconds inside one specific space or feeling.
- Mixed festival montages → focused visual stories
- Brief glimpses of many spaces → a deeper look at one space
- Music beneath the footage → music shaping the emotion and pace of the reel
- Showing what happened → showing what the experience felt like
Each reel was built around one session, facilitator, or ‘characteristic’ of Pranafest.
The goal was to help viewers move from “this looks interesting” to “I can imagine what being there might feel like.”

What Was Done:
A collection of 30-second vertical visual stories:
- Focused each reel on one specific aspect or experience of Pranafest
- Captured complete emotional arcs rather than disconnected highlights
- Used song choice, vocals, rhythm, and pacing to define the emotion of each space
- Prioritised close human moments, including touch, eye contact, laughter, movement, and release
- Shot vertically and recording each session long enough to capture its defining moments
- Organised the footage by experience and signal, making specific moments easier to find and reuse

The Result:
Pranafest now has a set of focused experience films that can show what individual spaces feel like before someone attends.
- Viewers can spend longer inside one session, not a passing highlight.
- Each reel gives a clearer expectation of the energy, pace, and human experience of that space
- Previous attendees can reconnect with specific memories and emotions from the festival
- Pranafest has a more organised library of footage grouped by experiences, events, specific spaces and categories of human connection; kids, hugs, conversations, laughter
- The same footage can support both focused reels and broader festival content
- Future reels can also be built around facilitators and artists for collaborative Instagram distribution

The Takeaway
When an event contains many different experiences, trying to show everything can make it harder to feel anything.
Focused visual stories give each space enough time, rhythm, and emotional coherence for the viewer to understand what it might be like to take part.
This can help businesses:
- turn complex events into clearer emotional entry points
- show the difference between individual sessions or spaces
- build stronger expectations before someone attends
- create more useful assets for facilitators, artists, and collaborators
When there are so many different elements to the event, the question becomes:
Does your event content communicate what each aspect actually feels like?
